An Evening in the Sunflowers

Last week I took my kids out to a sunflower field to get some updated pics in a fun setting.  This is a little taste of what we did there!  There will be more to come later!

Sweet Dreams

Nap time is a rare and precious jewel around our house these days. If you are a parent I'm sure that you are familiar with the battle of the Nap. I know full well that bedtime will be a struggle as we round the corner on the first hour of her afternoon nap, but the blissful calm, the one on one with my middle child, the chance to rest...well that trumps tonight. At least until bedtime rolls around!

Bubble master

One of the things I've started focusing on again is my photography, so hopefully I can work up to posting one completely composed, shot and edited image here every day.  We will see how that goes, but I can at least start with a few a week! Here is today's photo of the day!

This little girl loves her some bubbles and when she figured out that being covered in soapy water in the bathtub made her able to catch the bubbles, well, lets just say she was thoroughly entertained for a long time!

Chill....

Today is one of those days.

I overslept and rushed out the door, so thankful that it is easter egg hunt/picnic day and I didn't have to make lunches for school, since we were late, after all.  We get pretty much all the way to school when I realize that I don't have easter baskets for either of the two older kids.  I tell them I will bring them to the egg hunts.  Plan an emergency trip to Target, checking my bank account on the way.  THEN, realize that I forgot shoes for the youngest to wear as we traipse around all day.  Add that to the Target list.  Get to Target, get what we need, remember that I owe $5 for one of the easter egg hunt/picnics...get change.  Hurry over to work, where I have an hour to get the majority of my work done before sprinting to the hunts.  WHEW...Take a deep breath.

Just a few minutes to get a quick blog out. Because maybe there is someone else who is having a day like this? And if so, just know, YOU'VE GOT THIS.

Now, deep breath because it's off to the races again.  I get to hide eggs for third graders, race to a kindergarten egg hunt, come back and catch tail end of third grade egg hunt, sprint back to work to finish up for the day.  Did I mention I have an almost 2 year old who gets to tag along??? AND baseball games at the same time in two different places tonight?

Fix-It-Up Friday

We moved into our new home almost 6 months ago and I have been having so much fun thinking of ways to decorate and even better how to DIY most of it.  With limited funds, DIY and huge sales are our best decor friends!! We have one wall that is part of a short hallway leading from our kitchen to our living room that I have not been able to decide what to do with.  Our living room has nothing on the walls and I have been toying with going with an adventure/map type theme for that room.  My plan for the short wall at the moment is to turn it into a large "command center", with calendars, a chalkboard for notes and the kids to play with, framed bulletin boards for each kid to showcase important dates, drawing, etc....  As today is what I hope will continue to be Fix-It-Up Friday, I'm going to start this series with some ideas that I found on Pinterest.  I'll also keep you guys updated on how it turns out!!

Love this quote to add in vinyl somewhere on the wall

There are tons of tutorials on these and I think I can find some funky frames at Ikea or Hobby Lobby, but this is the idea that I'm going for.
These were found on Pinterest.

And i love this magnetic chalkboard.  Not sure if I will frame one and it will be longer, probably running the length of the wall, since it is a short wall.  But perfect for the boys to leave notes and my sweet little girl to practice letters when she gets to be that age!

This one below is more the length I am looking at:

So those are a few of my ideas.  I'm hoping to sketch out some layout ideas this weekend and then get started finishing this wall next week!!

Have a fabulous weekend and feel free to tell me all about what you are fixing up or planning to fix up today!
